Ortoma launches new website highlighting market leading AI-assisted surgical solutions

Published February 25, 2021

Ortoma is now entering the commercialization phase of Ortoma Treatment Solution™ (OTS™) its AI assisted surgical technology platform for planning and positioning of orthopaedic implants. To emphasize some of the key features, the company has launched a new website: www.ortoma.com

OTS™ is an orthopedic digital, server-based integrated AI platform designed to optimize patient outcomes through surgical planning, precision surgical navigation, post-operative verification, and follow-up. This platform is used at the point of care and provides immediate integration into the hospital system.

The Ortoma Treatment Solution™ for hip replacement surgery is FDA cleared and CE Marked (as Ortoma Hip Plan and Ortoma Hip Guide) and is ready for market globally. A video posted on www.ortoma.com explains how OTSTM provides an optimized medical outcome for patients, surgeons, and hospitals/clinics.

OTS for hip is comprised of three components; pre-operative planning, intra-operative navigation, and post-operative follow-up. Pre-operative planning in 3D with Ortoma Hip Plan can dramatically reduce the time spent in pre-operative care. It gives surgeons the required measurements, access to the individual anatomical landmarks, as well as the type, size, and position of the prosthetic components for optimized restoration of the patient’s biomechanics. Ortoma Hip Guide, used in the operating room, includes a small footprint ambulatory equipment and is entirely operated by the surgeon. During surgery, the system guides the surgeon while placing the implants in the intended positions, resulting in better performance and optimized surgical results. Post-operative follow up allows for comparison of implant placement not only right after surgery but throughout the life of the implant.

“The new website is a step forward as we prepare for market launch. Over the past year, we have made exclusive demonstrations for selected groups. We have now reached the stage where we would like to show our solutions to a broader audience, including users, potential commercialization partners, and our shareholders” says Linus Byström, CEO of Ortoma.

In connection with launch of the new website, the company has also updated its brand image. The connection between art, science, and medicine exists since the beginning of time and curiosity is a driving force. Ortoma believes that improving medical science comes with using cutting-edge technology. That philosophy is what inspired Ortoma to develop products to improve the patient’s quality of life. The new profile connects art and medical science, by the Greek statue Discobolus, a youthful athlete throwing discus from about 460–450 BC by Myron, as a symbol for optimal biomechanics and an optimal medical outcome with technology symbolized by artificial Intelligence constantly working in the background.

About Ortoma AB (publ)

Ortoma AB develops surgical systems for the planning and positioning of implants in hip, knee and spinal surgery. The purpose of the company’s surgical system, Ortoma Treatment Solution™ (OTS) is to enable the surgeon to accurately measure and plan 3D surgery for the placement of a joint implant and during the surgery, to optimally position the implant in the patient. Ortoma’s surgical system is aimed at providing better patient outcomes, fewer complications and less follow-up surgeries – and thus better long-term survival rates for the implant. Another aim is to create a system that can be integrated easily into the processes and routines that are currently used in surgeries, thereby increasing efficiency. Ortoma’s B shares are noted on Spotligh Stock Market. Globally, more than 7.5 million orthopedic procedures are performed each year where OTS could be used in hip, knee and spinal surgery. In Sweden last year around 42,000 surgical procedures were performed involving hip, knee or spinal surgery.
